Sun Nymphs
from March’s Creatures Beyond the Walle
Shy like other nymphs, sun nymphs are not often seen by humans, although they are impossible to forget once they are because of their glowing beauty. These nature spirits are tied to the sun—they are only active when the sun is up during the day and sink into comas at night. And they are born when the sun is high and die when the sun is below the horizon.
Sun nymphs are cheery and energetic during the day (unless ’tis cloudy)—often beaming and bouncing. They will suddenly begin dancing with joy at the sight of the sun. They live in sunny areas across Damensea in intimate clans containing one or two families. Nourished by the sun ray’s, they eat sparingly, and then only eat plants who gain their energy from the sun.
In appearance, sun nymphs resemble radiantly lovely humans, but their hair is always blonde or gold and their eyes are amber or gold, and they appear to glow in the sunlight. They also often wear gold, yellow, or white. Female sun nymphs are twice as prevalent as male sun nymphs. Like other nymphs, sun nymphs are extremely long-lived. They also remain youthful looking until shortly before they die.
Sun nymphs have similar magical powers to that of human sun witches, albeit much, much stronger. Their magic is powered by the sun and becomes weaker at night. Using the sun’s positive nature, they can create spells of light, joy, growth, nurturing, and transformation. Using the sun’s dangerous nature, they can create spells of fire, heat, rage, and destruction.
