Magical Properties of Metals
To Lady Juliet, Royal Witch of Calatini

Dear Lady Juliet,
Thank you for your information about unicorn water and your advice. However, I could never leave my mentors, as paltry as they are. The twins saved me from a life of slavery in the Tsarkan Empire. Unless you object, I would like to continue directing my magical inquiries to you, although I can understand if you would prefer to end our correspondence.
On to my question for today, could you describe the magical properties of common metals? My mentors ran out of copper for a spell they were creating, so they substituted bronze, and the spell fizzled.
If you do not respond, I will assume you wish to end our correspondence. My thanks for all your information and advice over the past year.
Thanks again,
Mordred Thyme

Dear Mr. Thyme,
I can understand your sense of obligation to your mentors. Yet if they were proper mentors, they would send you to a witch with better training. However, I do not mind answering your letters, so please continue to send them. I shall attempt to not comment about your mentors in the future.
Many metals are used in magic spells, so I cannot describe them all, but I shall write about the six most common.
GOLD: Use gold in spells for protection, wealth, vitality, and healing. Gold is also associated with the sun and often used to represent men.
SILVER: Use silver in spells for sight, intuition, purification, and fertility. Silver is also associated with the moon and often used to represent women.
(Electrum is a mixture of gold and silver. Some healers, often soul healers, wear electrum torcs rather than gold to combine the properties of gold and silver.)
COPPER: Use copper in spells for energy, love, sensuality, and relationships. Copper is also the favorite metal of the Sea God for its emotional power.
TIN: Use tin in spells for abundance, prosperity, growth, and wisdom. Tin is also the favorite metal of the Goddess for its power over growth.
(Bronze is a mixture of copper and tin, so its magical properties are also a mixture. Use bronze if you want a spell to promote relationship growth or prosperous love. From your words, I suspect your mentors were attempting an energy spell, which only copper can handle.)
IRON: Use iron in spells for war, strength, determination, and courage. Iron also supposedly wards off magical creatures; however, this myth is false.
LEAD: Use lead in spells for time, death, stability, and grounding. However, be careful when using lead as ’tis poisonous.
Sincerely,
Lady Juliet, Royal Witch of Calatini
