The Secret Soulbond Excerpt:
Although Miss Keyes and Lord Beza were too engrossed with each other to notice anyone else, Annalise silently backed from the romantic garden until she collided with a hard body behind her. Tingling warmth flooding her, she gasped as arms covered in bronze scales of a dragon costume wrapped about her waist.
Dare murmured in her ear, “Caught you at last.” He paused. “Is that Miss Keyes dancing scandalously close to Lord Beza Hawke? And what spell are they using? Its magic is even more blinding than yours.”
Annalise jerked from his embrace then darted past him into another garden. She never should have halted at Miss Keyes’s spell. Dare wouldn’t have caught her otherwise. And now that he had, he’d probably not leave. She swirled to face him, fisting her hands on her hips. “Please go. We mustn’t risk feeding our impossible soulbond.”
Dare strode over to grasp her hand. “I can’t. We must talk.”
Her heart fluttering, she swallowed. “No.”
She attempted to wrench her hand free, but his grip was so firm that she rebounded into him instead. As their chests pressed together, she shivered and stared up into his amber eyes. Oh, Goddess. She licked her lips.
Dare groaned then lowered his head until his mouth brushed hers.
Annalise stilled, her pulse surging and the ache in her chest easing as their souls meshed. She should really withdraw. But instead, she wrapped her arms about his neck and deepened their kiss.
